Re-examine Core Processes

INDUSTRY: HIGHER EDUCATION - PRIVATE

Objective: Re-examine Core Processes

A private university purchased an enterprise campus management system to meet expanding data demands. In consultations with the software vendor, university officials realized that core institutional processes would require extensive customization. When packaged software is overly customized, the benefits of purchasing packaged software erodes and leads to difficulties in maintaining the system. The university needed a better understanding of their core processes.

Solution: Form Follows Function

Operari Group analyzed institutional functions (e.g. recruiting, admissions, enrollment, advising, research, administration, business, etc.).

  1. The analysis resulted in process maps of the university’s current operations.
  2. By matching the current operations with the packaged software’s “out of the box” process enablers, Operari facilitated a smooth transition to the increased capacity and efficiency of the enterprise system.
  3. Operari delivered a structured process for evaluating process compromises versus software customizations. As an added benefit, the university now has a full set of standardized process diagrams and documentation.
